Rovinj

Rovinj, a free day from the tour

We arrived to Rovinj.  Wow! A quaint, beautiful, seaside  town.  Saso took us on a walking tour from the bus to the boat dock where we would take a boat to our island hotel, the Hotel Katarina.  The sun was beginning to set and the light against the colorful buildings and boats was glorious for photos.   A quick boat trip across the bay and we arrived at The Hotel  Katarina.   What a beautiful hotel.  We  enjoyed our patio overlooking the Adriatic and town of Rovinj.  It was a beautiful night watching twilight set in over this picturesque town.

We had to take the boat  to our late dinner at a wonderful seafood restaurant located near the boat dock.  Wonderful time and amazing fresh fish.  The fish we had were probably swimming around that morning, it was so fresh.

Boat back to our island hotel and looking forward to a vacation day from our vacation.

Awoke to an overcast morning.  Had an early breakfast and then the morning light was filling the room.  I grabbed my camera and we walked the nice brick path around  this small sland.  So wonderful to hear the sound of sea gulls, birds, and watch the fishing boats go out for their daily catch.

Nice to have a free day.  Took Boat to town.  Cute, colorful alleys, balconies, windows.  Wandered around town.  Had pasta at a café and laughed and talked with the locals who were also lunching there too.

After a day of wandering through Rovinj, we headed back to the hotel where we would catch our boat for the Adriatic sunset cruise.  The only optional excursion on the agenda for the day.  We saw dolphins and a bright, beautiful sunset from our boat.  Jim and I decided to eat at the hotel which was quite good.  The hotel boat that runs back and forth to Rovinj is only a 5 minute trip and runs on the half hour.  We just wanted to relax and not have to wait for the boat any longer.

The trip is winding down now.  We needed to pack and get ready for the next day.
